Terms of Use
A few ground rules for using BreakerMap, keeping your records, and understanding what the app can do.
About these terms
These terms describe use of the BreakerMap website and companion app provided by Jaret Priddy (“we” or “us”). By using the website or app, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, stop using them. Information about data handling is in our Privacy Policy.
The iOS app is licensed under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, unless a different license is provided with the app in the App Store. These terms do not replace that license, Apple’s applicable terms, or your mandatory consumer rights. If there is a conflict concerning the app license, the applicable license and mandatory law control.
What BreakerMap does
BreakerMap helps you record which breakers serve outlets, lights, and appliances. The finder detects a change in your iPhone’s charging state and can alert you when charging power is lost. It does not measure voltage, inspect wiring, control a breaker, certify an installation, or provide professional electrical advice. The website demo contains fictional example circuits and does not connect to electrical equipment.
A map is not an electrical tester. An alert or saved circuit label does not prove that wiring is de-energized or safe to touch. Always verify with an appropriate electrical tester before working on wiring. Do not remove panel covers or touch exposed conductors. If you are unsure, contact a qualified electrician.
Use the app safely.
- Operate only accessible external breaker handles that you are authorized and able to use safely. Do not use the app to attempt electrical work beyond your training or ability.
- Consider what a breaker powers before switching it, including medical equipment, alarms, computers, and appliances. BreakerMap is not an emergency, life-safety, or equipment-monitoring system.
- Follow the in-app setup instructions. Charging accessories, backup power, audio routing, media volume, interruptions, and leaving or locking the app can delay or prevent an alert.
- Check labels and saved associations before relying on them. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter and for keeping your directory current after electrical changes.
Your records belong to you.
You retain rights to the records, photos, and other material you add. Save or share only material you are entitled to use. We do not claim ownership of your home’s information. The app stores it locally, and you control exports and sharing.
Keep your device backed up and export important records. BreakerMap does not currently provide account recovery, cloud sync, or an archive-import feature. Device loss, deletion, hardware failure, or software problems can result in lost records. We cannot recover data that was never sent to us.
Website content and acceptable use
The app, website design, branding, and original content belong to Jaret Priddy or their respective rights holders. You may use the website and help materials for their intended purpose. Do not misrepresent ownership, infringe others’ rights, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the service, or use it unlawfully. Nothing here limits uses permitted by law or rights granted under the applicable app license.
Third-party services and purchases
Apple, the website host, email providers, and destinations you choose for sharing operate their own services under their own terms. We do not control their availability or practices. Any app price or purchase terms will be shown in the App Store before purchase; payment and refund requests are handled through Apple under its applicable policies and consumer law.
Availability and limitations
We aim to provide a useful and reliable app, but do not promise uninterrupted operation, error-free records, or that every loss of charging power will be detected. To the extent permitted by applicable law and the applicable app license, the website and its informational content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without additional warranties.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer protections. The app’s warranty and liability provisions are governed by its applicable license. A safety notice is not a waiver of rights you have under law.
Changes and stopping use
Features and supported versions may change. We will update the date on this page if we revise these terms and provide notice of material changes where required. Changes do not remove rights already accrued under applicable law. You may stop using the website or app at any time; export records you want to keep before deleting the app.
